About PTP

Prospering Through Prospects aims to bring you the best in MLB and MiLB analysis, focusing especially on prospects ready to make an impact on the fantasy baseball world.

PTP is named after the Fantasy baseball league that made me fall in love with MiLB and the prospect world -- a keeper league started by a bunch of The Sporting News Fantasy diehards back in 2007. I had played Fantasy for four or five years before then (when I was 13), but the PTP league took my fascination/obsession with all things MLB, MiLB, and FBB to a whole new level.

Fast forward several years, and I've become determined to turn this passion into a career. I got my start writing for MLBFantasyProspects.com, a site dedicated solely to fantasy-relevant prospects, and developed a small following there. That experience led to an internship writing for NESN.com where I became a sort of MiLB and fantasy baseball expert-in-residence.

Now I write for three sites -- RotoExperts, Fire Brand of the AL and The Dynasty Guru -- and write primarily about prospects for all three. So, at the tender age of 23 and beginning my writing career, I'm doing what no (err..every) other amateur sportswriter has done before -- creating my own blog where I can write whatever I want and highlight some of my better pieces appearing elsewhere as well.

What are my scouting qualifications? Not much, really. I get to as many minor league games as I can, and I do like to think I have a decent eye for an amateur. But the majority of my value to you comes through the sheer amount of scouting reports I read and video I watch, plus my understanding of how prospects can effect Fantasy baseball. Not all of my posts will concern Fantasy, but many will, and I'll make that distinction whenever I need to.

Enjoy Baseball Prospectus, Baseball America, and Fangraphs? Annoyed by Jon Heyman, the statistic known as wins, and any move Omar Minaya ever made as a GM? PTP is the site for you.

Feedback is always appreciated, comments will almost always be answered, and I'm always willing to give fantasy advice.

Thanks for reading and enjoy your stay,
Ben Carsley
